Just finished spamming my contacts in my phone address book…
Basically just wanna wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy 2009… Wishing that in 2009, everyone will prosper and share (don’t forget me), make lots of money and be able to spend it, continue to work just as hard and get paid even more, cultivate even love love and less anger and… Visit my website regularly.
Seriously, both Mrs Tai and I wish everyone the best of everything from the bottom of our hearts…
p/s: there’s no phone service in my new place and i won’t be back in office till 5th Jan (holiday shutdown), so my internet access is severely limited for now…
Moving…

Honestly, I’ve not finished packing (actually, Mrs Tai is doing most of the packing)… The move is tomorrow… I’m panicking…
Anyway, I’ll be doing a disappearing act. Thanks to Telekom‘s ‘efficient and highly effective’ system, I’ll have NO access to the net until such time they decide its time to increase the ports in my area… New township but Telekom decided not to invest in their voice and data equipments… *sigh*
This means no Facebook and I can’t reply to comments… And I won’t be visiting your blogs for the next few days…
Anyway, once again, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
3 months…

Three months ago…
With lots of weekends spent painting and getting various contractors to do up the grilles, etc… And even more hours of sleepless nights thinking and wondering if things will go wrong (and some did go wrong but heck, it always ends with a “Happily ever after”), this is how our home looks like now…

BEFORE and AFTER…

There’s actually still a lot more to do… But love and home is always ‘work in progress’
Less than one week to go and we’re officially a Setia Alam resident!
Christmas is coming…

Saw this a at the bakery in Tesco Setia Alam last week. I think it’s very nice…

And just a few weeks back, Mrs Tai and I were watching the Shrek 1, Shrek 2 and Shrek 3… So when we saw this…

…We straight away thought of
Gingy…
Merry Christmas to everyone…
…and a Happy 2009!!!
The big day…

We have confirmed with the movers so it means we’ve confirmed the move date… Ya, while many actually look at good dates, for us, we just see whichever day is convenient for us. And we’ve chosen… 24th Dec 2008. Yes, Christmas eve.
One major reason why we’re moving on that day is because my leave starts that day! The office shutdown (aka compulsory leave) is from 24th Dec till 4th Jan. I’m happy that there’s a shutdown as it means I can take a long stretch off without having to worry if my leave application would be approved or not. And I’m not gonna waste any of my leave NOT staying in our new home!
Stupid driver

This is not an inconsiderate driver… I call this a stupid driver. Only a total idiot would park his car in front of a house — blocking almost half the entrance to my parent’s place in Kelana Jaya.
And that’s my very busybody furkid, Gerger…
Foggy morning in Kuala Lumpur
by atai @ 18:17 | Comments (0) | Filed under: misc
It’s been raining quite heavily the past few days… The rain had caused some major problems, including the Bukit Antarabangsa tragedy.
The rain has also given KL the foggy effect… Photo on the left taken this morning. Photo on the right was taken during a sunny morning.
On a sunny day, you can actually see the KL Tower and the Petronas Twin Towers like in the photo below:
This is another photo taken quite sometime back after in rained quite heavily the night before…
We have lights…

Collected the lights last night from Perfect Lighting House.
This morning, the electrician came over to help us install the lights. At rm10/ light, I think it’s a good deal as installing the lights isn’t really as simple as I has expected… Halfway installing, we realised our main light (main here being the most expensive set of lights) is missing a piece… Arrggghhh…
Anyway, we’ll probably have to DIY that light… Called Perfect Lighting House and they said they’ll have the piece ready for me in a day or two… So, one less photo to upload and post here…
This is what we got for the dry kitchen. Honestly, when Mrs Tai and I collected the lights last night, we could not recall choosing this light… After all, it was like 2 months ago when we ‘confirmed’ our lights… Still, we like it even though it’s a bit weird… I mean… Seashells?!?

Close-up view of the seashell lights
Since we had the lights up, we decided to stay back a bit later to test out the lights… To our disappointment, some lights were not bright enough. I don’t think its the bulb but the design of the lights. We may just buy some new ones and do some swapping…
Never ending paint work…
by atai @ 22:17 | Comments (2) | Filed under: updates
It seems like its a never ending task. Every week, my colleagues ask me how is the progress and I tell them almost finished but we still need to continue tomorrow… I think we’ve spent like the past 2 months worth of weekends painting… OK, maybe minus 1-2 weekends falling sick…
I think somehow the result is not really what I expected… I can see some smudges even after we have painted the base/ primer coating… I think we needed a thicker primer coating… Oh well, we can always continue to paint when we move in.
Here’s a before and after shot of the master bedroom…
I’m beginning to think I bought too much of this green. We have in total 15 litres (3 X 5L cans)… *sigh*
Kitchen – Almost done!
by atai @ 21:17 | Comments (6) | Filed under: updates
Almost because it seems I needed to make another appointment for the plumber to come over and fix the sink. That means there are three different teams from Rowenta that are involved in my kitchen project… Good because that means I know they people there are specialised… Bad because that means I have to wait like another week more… *sigh*
I thought the solid surface would come in 1-foot slabs. I had the impression that they would bring the slabs over to my place, join them and grind them so the seams won’t show… After all, many friends have warned us that it would be very dusty… So imagine my surprise when everything was done in less than an hour and the guys brought this in…

If there’s one thing we can both be proud of right now, its our kitchen cabinets
If you’re wondering how the kitchen looks like in the end…
