Movie with brother and his girlfriend

The day’s series of events took a ‘wrong’ turn and I ended up having to drive to The Curve. I had left my phone in my brother’s car and he was on his way there for dinner with Kelly.
So, I was ‘forced’ to join them for dinner and evening ended with a movie…
Dinner was at Vivo American Pizza & Panini (usually, this is where I have my meals if I’m at The Curve). Usually, I’ll be having either the shitake mushroom baked rice or the creamy mushroom pasta. This evening was no different — I had the baked rice.
Movie was ok. I have to say that I had very high expectations of the movie and I came off a bit disappointed. Monsters Vs Aliens was not as funny as I had expected it to be. But still, it did provide laughs, especially B.O.B.!

Non-disclosure clause

It seems that these days, everyone seems to have secretly recorded conversations, etc…
I think the next time I go to a gathering or speak to anyone, I need to make them sign a document that says they cannot record the conversation and if some how a recording is made available to the public, they will have to pay me XXX amount… I’m thinking of rm5 million.
What do you think?

Mrs Tai‘s strict instructions to me before she went to stay at my in-law’s place… Don’t let any of them die!!! Wah, I’m very stressed la… Seriously, I am… I have no experience tending to garden… Heck, see how my garden and grass is turning out and you’ll realise that i’m better off just eating greens rather than plant them…

We bought all of them from Sungai Buloh
Mrs Tai’s favourite plant at the moment — The morning glory…

Morning glory in full bloom
Found this at one of the flower pots…

Yucks! So fat! Don’t look like leeches or worms… Don’t know what they are… I think one is dead
Cockroach in the elevator
by atai @ 8:17 | Comments (6) | Filed under: misc
This morning, like every other morning, I got onto the elevator at Basement 2. Another guy also gets onto the elevator with me. As we entered the elevator, I noticed there was a cockroach in the elevator. I told myself I’m not going to kill this poor thing even though I don’t really like them anywhere near me.
The cockroach continued to find its way out of the elevator (I don’t think it’s possible unless it starts to either fly up and go out through the ventilator OR it goes out through the door). The picture below shows me and the the other guy in the elevator (the two smilies) while the cockroach is making one big round in the elevator (the green dots)…
The elevator then stopped at Basement 1. A girl comes into the elevator. Elevator door closes and starts to go up…
The girl suddenly notices the cockroach. The cockroach is moving towards her. She starts to back off and almost knocks into the guy. The cockroach continues to follow. The guy who came in together with me starts to get puzzled by the girls sudden movement and then notices the cockroach. He also backs up a bit…
Luckily for the girl, the elevator reaches Ground floor and the door opens. The guy walks towards the elevator door but the girl quickly rushes pass him first… I think she was really freaked out by the cockroach… heh heh…
More Mrs Tai updates

Mrs Tai informed told me that the doctors said she will have to remain in hospital for at least a few more days.
This is something I had expected as I know the gynae looking into her case is a very cautious doctor who puts safety above everything else. He just wants to ensure both Mrs Tai and fetus is alright and being is the hospital is the ‘best’ place you can be — doctors and nurses are everywhere!
The past two weeks have been hectic for me as well… Juggling between work and personal life. Lots of things to be done in the office. Back home, there’s a lot more to be done as well. There’s also the visits to the hospital (I have to admit, its not daily visits), etc… This is one time I wish there’s 48 hours in a day!
Stray dogs on Pulau Ketam
by atai @ 7:17 | Comments (6) | Filed under: misc
This is one of the ‘hot items’ appearing in the newspapers, especially this week…
Plight of the swamp dogs
PORT KLANG: Animal activist Sabrina Yeap couldn’t hold back her tears when she saw the condition of the dogs that Pulau Ketam residents had dumped on an uninhabited island.
Dogs run deeper into island on seeing rescuers
PORT KLANG: The dogs abandoned on an uninhabited island by Pulau Ketam residents were so frightened at the sight of a big group of people that they fled deeper into the island.
A five-member team from the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) and nine newsmen came to the island off Pulau Selat Kering yesterday on a mission to rescue the dogs.
“Only two dogs were captured. The others just ran off,” said SPCA spokesman Jacinta Johnson.
Rescue groups swing into action
PORT KLANG: Animal welfare groups are rushing to an island near here to rescue hundreds of dogs dumped there by Pulau Ketam residents.
Outrage over Klang Council sanction in marooning strays
PULAU KETAM, Selangor, May 6 — The capture and dumping of stray dogs from Pulau Ketam to other islands were sanctioned and funded by Klang Municipal Council and councillors.
Stray dogs shipped off to an island
RESIDENTS of Pulau Ketam turned dogcatchers recently, to help curb the stray dog population on their island.
The residents, mostly fishermen, had built contraptions to trap the dogs that were then sent to a nearby-uninhabited island.
According to village head Cha Keng Lee, the residents had written to the Klang Municipal Council (MPK) alerting them about the large number of strays on the island.
“The MPK councillor in charge of Pulau Ketam used the money allocated to his service centre on the island to fund the dog-catching project,’’ said Cha adding that residents were paid RM10 for a big dog, RM8 for a medium-sized dog and RM5 for a small dog that they managed to trap.
Cha claimed the money was used to build the traps as well as transport the dogs to the uninhabited island known as Pulau Tengah.
He added about 400 out of the estimated 2,000 stray dogs in Pulau Ketam were trapped and sent to the island last month alone.
When asked if they would be able to survive on the island, Cha said there were a lot of food source on the island such as fish, crabs, lizards, snakes and wild boar.
He said the dogs were sent to the island to prevent them from being destroyed by the MPK.
When contacted MPK councillor in charge of Pulau Ketam Tee Beng Lee said residents had in the past caught and sent dogs to another island, which was nearer to the main island than Pulau Tengah.
I’m speechless. I really don’t know what to say… It seems these dogs were sent to the island (with ‘good intentions’), but I guess someone failed to realise dogs can’t fish for food. There’s hardly anything to eat there. And since they were not neutered or spayed, naturally their population will increase! Also, it seems there are not fresh water on that isolated island!

And if you want to give the Klang Municipal Council a piece if your mind, their website is www.mpklang.gov.my.
SPCA and SAS (Save A Stray) has started emergency relief efforts. You can read more about it at the SPCA website. I’ve also taken some of the photos from the SPCA site and put them here… But a word of caution, don’t expect a pretty sight!
