My second organic vegetables delivery
by atai @ 23:17 | Comments (1) | Filed under: food,misc

My second box of organic vegetables arrived this evening. And just like a little boy, I was eager to know what he got…

I was not disappointed. :)

My organic dinner
by atai @ 23:17 | Comments (1) | Filed under: food

Since I engaged the organic vegetables delivery service, I’ve been having organic vegetables for dinner.

This is what I had last week. It looked plain and dull. Definitely not what I would call exciting.

Organic vegetables for dinner
It lacks colour…

My fridge was quite empty then… So I had to just make do with what was delivered. Then over the weekend, I did some shopping and…

Colourful organic dinner

See what a little extra colour (and better camera) does to your dinner? :)

Two finger typist
by atai @ 21:17 | Comments (3) | Filed under: updates

In case you didn’t know, I’m a two-finger typist. Despite being in the IT profession, I can’t touch-type. So, imagine what happened when I accidentally cut my finger over the weekend…

Cut finger
It might look like a small cut, but it’s deep and painful… Ouch!

My efficiency rate fell by 50%… :(

Ouch! My finger…

Sliced a bit of my finger while preparing my organic vegetables for dinner… Ouch! In this instance, organic vegetables can be for me…

Oh ya, I got this installed today for Mrs Tai.

Organic vegetables delivered to our doorstep
by atai @ 7:17 | Comments (12) | Filed under: food,misc | Tagged with: ,

Well, not really to our doorstep la… :)

We recently signed up for such service as we sometimes find it troublesome having to go to Tesco to shop for vegetables. There are times when the vegetables are not fresh or there are very few vegetables to choose from. So when we was recently approached on this about two weeks back, we were quite sure we would be using this service. It was just a matter of when…

Yesterday was the first delivery and naturally, we were excited. How does it look like? How much is 3kg of vegetables? How is the packing? What will we get? This is the ‘box’…

Organic vegetables in a box
3kg worth of organic vegetables packed in a box. Tissue box is just for comparison.

Vegetables were wrapped in paper and nicely packed into the container. In case you’re wondering, the paper can be recycled/ re-used. We just need to keep it and return it to them. The container will be exchanged during the next delivery. So, what did we get?

Our first container of organic vegetables

In case you’re interested to know more about this service, we are getting our vegetables from Ms Ng of Farm Direct Organic. I believe they are able to deliver the vegetables to consumers in the Klang Valley. She said that they will try to deliver the vegetables within 24 hours after harvesting. The vegetables are sourced from farms in Cameron Highlands. For new customers who heard it from Setia Alam, they are entitled to a free 5th box of vegetables (not necessary to be a resident of Setia Alam to enjoy this benefit — so you can call Ms Ng and say you heard from Setia Alam and you’ll enjoy this special deal).

Here’s their brochure…

Company function @ Quattro, Avenue K
by atai @ 23:17 | Comments (2) | Filed under: misc

My company had a function earlier this evening at this place called Quattro located in Avenue K. A colleague of mine who visited the place a few days back told me that Quattro is an interesting place. She added that we’ve booked a place in Autumn. I was like… Huh? Autumn?!? Yes, I am not a ‘happening’ person anymore and most of the time, I just prefer to laze around @ home (trying to get some extra sleep since many have told me that once the baby is here, I won’t get decent sleep any more).

We ended up spending our time in Spring. I would call Spring an outdoor pub as its located in the open area facing the road. I managed to visit the other ‘seasons’… Summer is like a typical air-conditioned restaurant. Nothing really special. Autumn seems more happening. I would say that it is a mix between a restaurant, ballroom and a dance floor (clubbing type of dance floor). Winter is located on a separate floor (I think its two floors above). I have to say that Winter is the most interesting… Chairs are fun (what I would call ‘egg’ and ‘clam’ chairs). It’s also cold…

How cold is Winter @ Quattro? There are three rooms there and it can be freezing in one of the rooms! I kid you not…

As for food… I think it was generally a disappointment and not because they have limited vegetarian dishes. My non-vegetarian colleagues commented that the food is nothing to shout about. Or maybe we didn’t order the ‘right’ food… I guess Quattro is more of a drinking place than an eating place.

A short seaside trip
by atai @ 22:17 | Comments (0) | Filed under: misc | Tagged with: , ,

Since Mrs Tai was back for the weekend (she came back so she could join Angelin’s full moon dinner), we decided to explore the area around Setia Alam.

A few weeks back, I tried to visit this place with Mrs Tai but turned back when we saw toll booths. This time, I thought we might as well check out how much it will cost us and at the same time, try to find out if this place I wanted to go to is worth it. Where did we go…? Tanjung Harapan (Cape Hope) in Port Klang

This place is just 20 minutes drive from our home

Angelin’s full moon dinner
by atai @ 23:17 | Comments (2) | Filed under: food,misc

My cousin sister gave birth to a baby girl a month ago. She organised a full moon family dinner for her baby, Angelin, earlier this evening.

I had my vegetarian dishes but the first dish caught my attention. It is a cold dish — abalone and baby octopus.

I didn’t have that, of course, but it was an interesting dish. I’ve never seen the abalone and baby octopus served this way before. Here’s a closer look at the dish…

For me, there were two interesting dishes…

Dinner was at The Ming Room at Bangsar Shopping Centre. It was yummy…

Ean Yong’s political secretary dead at MACC HQ
http://www.themalaysianinsider.com/index.php/malaysia/32490-ean-yongs-political-secretary-dead-at-macc-hq-

SHAH ALAM, July 16 – The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) controversial probe into several DAP assemblymen’s activities was thrown into more turmoil today with the death of political aide Teoh Beng Hock at the anti-graft authority’s Selangor headquarters.

The 30-year-old’s death will put more pressure on the MACC, which has been accused by the opposition of conducting selective investigations.

By 9pm tonight, a crowd had gathered at the scene for a candlelight vigil in his memory, which soon grew into a protest with angry chants of “Najib pembunuh, BN zalim, BN jahanam” (murderer Najib, cruel BN, go to hell, BN)and “Reformasi!”

Teoh, the political secretary of Seri Kembangan assemblyman Ean Yong Hian Wah, was taken in for questioning by the MACC yesterday at its 14th floor office in Plaza Masalam in Shah Alam.

MACC said he was freed but his body was later found sprawled on the roof of a five-storey building next door.

This is really shocking. The circumstances leading to his death had caused me great unease. What is happening? Teoh is supposed to get married the next day… I am speechless…

Peat fire? Saw this just outside the Setia Alam toll (NKVE) on my way to my parent’s place this afternoon…
