We were shopping at Guardian in Setia Alam… Mrs Tai was heading towards to counter to pay for some stuff while I was still inside checking out a few items.
Suddenly Mrs Tai called me on my mobile and said she wasn’t feeling too good. She said she was outside.
I started to walk out. I could see Mrs Tai standing outside. As I walked closer to the door, I saw her starting to walk about wobbly… Got behind her just in time as she just went limp all over and fell. I managed to hold her and gently put her onto the floor while calling her repeatedly.
She suddenly turned around and looked at me as though she just got up from a nap. She remarked she was sitting on the floor. The rest of the day was spent watching Mrs Tai very closely even though she assured me that it can happen during pregnancy…
Our original plan was to celebrate Merdeka Day by singing our hearts out in a karaoke session. But response was not too good. So we decided to just meet up for dinner…
Sorry, but this post is also ‘dry’ and without any photos. The few of us met up for dinner at a place called Shanky in SS2. The highlight, to me, was of course Jude and his girlfriend, Soo Pyng. Besides them, others who were at the dinner were Derrell and Su Fei (by the way, they have a blog now — visit them at thechinsblog.wordpress.com), Kim Chuan and Lee Yen, Sherman and Eu Jin.
I was halfway overtaking this trailer that was on the middle lane while on my way home today when suddenly it started to screech and started to swerve a bit… I could see the tires that were just beside me smoking… My heart stopped beating… Everything sort of stood still. My mind went into overdrive…
I was on the right lane. On my left was the trailer. On my right was the road divider. I was more than halfway overtaking the trailer, so it’s too late to jam my car brakes. I don’t think i could get any faster because there’s another truck in front of the trailer… I could only pray…
Luckily nothing else happened… It could have been another statistic on the NKVE.
Sunset looked very beautiful that evening. Air smelt so much fresher than I could ever remember. The trees looked so green and peaceful while the flowers looked really pretty.
That means no morning jam (ok, less cars on the road). Actually, this is something that I’ve always wondered… The school-going kids actually add to the number of cars on the road?!?
School holiday also means… Mrs Tai has gone back to her parent’s place… Holiday for me… heh heh…
I found out earlier this week that Shin Yee’s also shopping for some items for hew new place. We shared some notes and then decided to meet up at Hatch Home Concept to view the sofa again. She’s also been there before but it was about one to two months back and at that time, the recliner that I am eyeing was not there yet. She wanted to try out the recliner since I had spoken highly of it.
We met up with her family and checked out the recliner sofa. Hon Ming was OK. Shin Yee was also OK with it. Mrs Tai said she’s also OK. So, basically everyone is OK with the recliner. Sales ends next week. I still got time to think about it… Till Shin Yee whipped out her credit card. What?!? Aiyah, buy now ar? Errrr…
OK, so swiped my credit card for the deposit and yes, no need to do any more comparison. I have already placed the 30% deposit. No need to do any more ‘research’. Sofa delivery will be sometime end of September 2009. But after thinking about it, I might call them up sometime this week and see if we can have this delivered ASAP.
Steven and his wife dropped by our place in Setia Alam for a visit. We had dinner together. Steven and I do keep in touch but its mostly via sms and blog (which he’s not updated since last year!). He’s been busy with his stuff and I’ve been busy with mine…
Anyway, found out that he’s gotten his own place in Taiping and will be starting works on his place soon. I guess it should be ready by Chinese New Year. We also talked about 2-5 kid but you know la… With 2-5 kid, it’s the usual complaints about him…
Steven’s place is near the NSE toll exit but on the northern side. 2-5 kid needs to use the NSE (from the Southern side) when he comes back. My place is Setia Alam is near the toll exit as well, but smack in the middle. So guys, our future Magic tournaments will be in Setia Alam, ya?
Steven… I think Twitter should suit you quite well. Do check it out at: http://twitter.com.
Lots of things to do at work. Need to prepare for office relocation which should be sometime end of the year — about the same time the baby is due! Yikes…!
One of Mrs Tai’s car window broke. I was driving back from office earlier this evening to pick up Mrs Tai when suddenly there was this loud sound… Grrr…
Last weekend’s outing (see here and here) was only 50% successful — we still had a sofa to buy.
Since there were a few sofa ads on yesterday’s The Star, we decided to check them out. We went to a few places in Kota Damansara area. We wanted to make sure we’re getting a good deal from Even Sofa. We checked out Recliners and Sofas, Sleepcraft, Miva and Hatch Home Concept.
We started with Recliners and Sofas. The leather sofas there were similarly priced… So, I guess we were getting a good deal from Even Sofa. Then on our way out, I thought I’d just try out the recliners for fun. I don’t know why, but I’ve never considered recliners as I have the impression that the recliners would be uncomfortable not practical.
Boy, was I wrong about that! If you’ve ever been on those massage chairs, it’s just like that, minus the vibrators. I was totally taken aback by what I had just ‘discovered’! So, instead of leaving the shop, I decided to try out the other recliners we had passed off earlier on. Mrs Tai was a bit tired and decided to just wait downstairs while I went up to check out the other recliners available. Tested a few more and we walked out of that place with a new ‘objective’. L-shaped sofa is OUT. Recliner sofa is IN.
After all, the reason we wanted the L-shaped sofa is so that I can lie down while watching the TV (ok, when we get our TV anyway — we’re still without a TV). With this recliner sofa, its a 3-seater and the two seats at the sides can recline. So double the pleasure and it costs like rm200-400 more than the L-shaped sofa…
So the next few shops we visited were mainly to check out the recliner sofas… We still checked out the L-shaped sofas – both leather and fabric. I’m not in favour of fabric sofa because it is something that will get dirty very easily and with the baby on the way… Also, fabric sofa tends to gather dust much easier compared to a leather sofa. Plus, cost to re-upholster the fabric sofa is about 40% of the original sofa cost! So much for selling the idea that you can change the looks of the ’sofa’. We just don’t think its worth it.
We finally ended our tour for the day at Hatch. This one seems promising. 6 years warranty. Price is better. And they say they have a factory. Hmmm… I’m quite keen on one of the recliner sofa I saw at this place. Since the sale ends this month, I still have sometime to consider… Definitely coming back to this place.
Just to share…
Recliners and Sofas and Sleepcraft are both located at Dataran Sunway, Kota Damansara.
Hatch Home Concept and Miva is located at Palm Spring Damansara.
