Goodbye 2009… Hello 2010…
by atai @ 23:31 | Comments (2) | Filed under: greetings
There are a few photos I want to post but I think I’ll leave it for next year… Procrastinating… What a way to end 2009 and start 2010, huh?
Seriously, there’s hardly any time left if I take out all the time spent ‘serving’ Gabriel. What little left is used for sleeping (ok, this one takes quite a huge ‘bit’), cleaning the house (or at least try to) and also for some quality time with Mrs Tai…
Anyway, going to sign off for the year… Wishing everyone a Happy New Year and may 2010 bring even better opportunities and rewards to everyone…
Site links were broken
by atai @ 12:00 | Comments (0) | Filed under: site update
Did some upgrades to the site recently… Background updates…
On that day, noticed Mrs Tai‘s site was suddenly inaccessible. Made some restore from backups (yes, one should always backup one’s data) and the site was up again.
Mine seemed fine and so nothing else was done after the upgrade… Until this morning. A friend commented that she was unable to leave any comments…
Hmmm… Tested and ya, the links were broken… Did the same… Restored from backup and everything’s back to normal again.
So… Two lessons here:
* always backup your data
* upgrades can something break things that is otherwise working fine…
One year in Setia Alam
by atai @ 22:17 | Comments (9) | Filed under: greetings,setia alam
We’ve moved in for a year… Lots of things happened and didn’t happen in this one year…
Things that ‘happened’…
* got cabinets from Ikea
* Gerger went missing… Then was found and back with us…
* planted grass and flowers
* got a washing machine
* made several trips to UMMC
* signed up for organic vegetables delivery service
* got an aircond for our room…
* found a turtle
* garden (grass and flowers) all died…
* got another sofa… Ya, we have two… The first one was ‘rejected’ by many family members…
* Gabriel
Things that didn’t happen…
* some cabinets from Ikea is still not assembled yet. Well, I’ve still got a few days before the year officially ends…
* yet to do up the garden again….
* given up on ‘cleaning’ up and doing the finishing touches to the house… Never say you’ll do something after you move in… You’ll just end up being too lazy to do it…
* strike the jackpot… heh heh… Don’t buy, how to strike?!?
* Gerger is still not back with us yet. Wall is currently being done. Then there’s the grass. Then Gerger will be back with us…
OK, that about sums up one year…
And MeRrY Christmas…!!!

Gabriel’s new bed…
by atai @ 14:17 | Comments (4) | Filed under: baby
Gabriel has actually got 2 beds but 3 sleeping places… He has got 2 baby cots — one which we had bought for Seraphine and the other is a hand-me-down from Mrs Tai’s colleague. Besides the two beds, Gabriel sometimes end up sleeping on our bed…
This morning, he found a new ‘bed’…

Gabriel didn’t seem like he was feeling too well last night. Since yesterday, he had ‘vomited’ a few times. We took him to the UMMC around midnight but the doctor said he seemed fine. Doctor explained to us that what we saw were not really ‘vomiting’. But the doctor said that if we’re worried, we could always come back the next morning or seek a second opinion. She was wrote us a referral letter as well.
We took Gabriel to the paeds this morning. Paeds also said he was fine and that what we saw was not really called ‘vomiting’. After that, Mrs Tai and Gabriel spent the rest of the day at my parent’s place. In the afternoon, Mrs Tai and my mum took Gabriel to the barber I use. Gabriel is the 4th generation from my family to use this barber’s services.
Wanna see how he looks after the haircut…?

Lunch at Sri Ananda Bhavan, Bangsar

Since our office moved to the new location at Bangsar, I’ve been frequenting this Indian banana leaf rice place called Sri Ananda Bhavan.
Food is good. Price is reasonable (note: reasonable not cheap). This week, I’m trying to make it a “5-days of Indian rice” achievement… Shouldn’t be too difficult since I love Indian banana leaf rice, though at this place, I’m not really taking the banana leaf… I’ve been taking their Biryani instead…

Yummy…
If you wanna try it out, the place is located here:
The hunt for promotional diapers
by atai @ 22:17 | Comments (3) | Filed under: misc
“Your mission (with no option to reject) is to buy the Huggies diapers on promotion and also the Jacob’s cream crackers, also on promotion.”
Mrs Tai waived the Tesco promotional flyers in front of me and to show me the items that I need to buy. Without looking at the flyers, I told her I should be able to find it. After all, Tesco usually have the promotional items marked with BIG posters, etc… Worst case, I could always refer to the flyers which they usually have on the way in…
Arrived at Tesco… Walked over to the baby’s section and then…

Huh…? So many different type of Huggies diapers?!?
I didn’t expect to see soooOOoooo many different types of Huggies diapers. I expected the racks to have different brands… Aiyoh… How to find out which is the correct one?
After staring at the racks and moving up and down the aisle trying to figure out which one is on sale, I gave up and walked back to the entrance to get the flyers… #$%&!
Finally found the correct diapers which is on promotion and took 2 packs of it…
Thought I’d take a look at the flyers and confirm what type of biscuits. But I was sure Mrs Tai mentioned she wanted the one with ‘Hi-Iron’…
Weird… I could not find the biscuit in the flyers… But maybe coz I was just flipping through and didn’t really look at it. After all, I’m very confident of the biscuits… Found them and took 1 can with me.
Reached home and proudly showed Mrs Tai the things I had just bought. She took a look at the diapers and said they are not the one she wanted… Huh? I told her its the one in the flyers… She took out her flyers and I took out mine…
Aiyah… Different flyers!!! No wonder I could not find that Jacob’s cream crackers on my flyers… Grrrr….
Holding Gabriel…

It’s not fun when one can only see but cannot touch…
For the past two weeks or so, I’ve avoided touching Gabriel as I worry somehow I might end up passing my conjunctivitis to him.. But since my eyes are getting better (at least I think they are), I decided that enough is enough…
Mrs Tai was pleasantly surprised this evening when I suddenly picked Gabriel up… Played with him, carried him around and letting him fall asleep in my arms… It’s a feeling that no words can describe…
