The bird died…
Mrs Tai said it died while her colleague was trying to feed it with the antibiotic the vet had given. It was trying to peck Mrs Tai’s colleague and was struggling. Then it just dropped dead…
So its Goodbye #1.
I also said goodbye to my hamster. That’s Goodbye #2.
Today, I also said goodbye to…

My Proton Waja
We have had our ups and downs. For almost eight years we have worked as a team. Eight years is a long time but I guess it is time to say goodbye. I was using this car when I first met Mrs Tai. We picked up Gerger using this Proton Waja. The sale of this car was quick. Hand over the keys and that was it. It was only 10 minutes later that I realised I would never see that car again. I didn’t say ‘goodbye’ to it. But in a way, that was Goodbye #3.
And say Hello to…

My new car – the Proton BLM now known as the second generation Proton Saga
Yes, Proton BLM or what is now known as the new Proton Saga. Once I get a hang of this car, I will do a ‘review’ it.
atai: since when you book this saga…..I was told recently the waiting time is 6-7months……we were searching for a car for our dadinlaw…… then later we sapu one new iswara at 27k…..

I saw this Proton Saga at Giant Kelan Jaya. They had the hood open. So I pressed hard onto the engine block and the thing vibrated slighted. Pulled the rubber tube but it would not budge. Shake the radiator made by Denso , press it hard until the suspensium of the car move. The radiaor was firmly on the chassis. The price tag is a reasonable at RM 26K – RM 30K. Quite a solid engine. Then I proceeded into the passenger seat. Banged on the steering with my fist. Good rubber and good absorber. Tried to pull the thing but it was hard and stiff.
I did not like the rubber on the windows though because I removed a small piece out. I attached it back.
GOOD BUY, GOOD value for $$$ GOOD for second car NOT FIRST car. But even for a second car you may want to consider some accesories and modification. The carpets are a little hard to clean. May want to put some seat mats by type R. The front bumber could use a body kit.
The salesman thought I was going to buy but . . . . . .

The price tag is RM31.5k to RM38k……..
whether it’s good buy, it will take awhile to verify them.

Just do a crash test. I did not drive it though. But judging by the small size , u shud not have problems doing those corners and parking in small places. Good for urban driving. However, with its original shell , it does not look all that interesting. Need some modifications.

Speaking of which, the persona looks quite nice and sporty. Not a family car though but more for a young single exec.

tengster, you are right. waiting period is now about 6-7months. but i believe Proton is now having this ‘lucky draw’ where if you are ’selected’, you get your car within 2 weeks (or something like that). the most basic line (i think its N line) has got an even longer waiting period. i also heard Proton is looking into stopping production of the N line.
ya, N-line is the cheapest and costs rm31.5k.
btw, rumour has it that there will be a price increase very soon… probably around rm2-3k…

Proton never learn…when they tell comsumer 6-7 months, consumers will seek alternatives…..They forgot that they are not Ferrari or Maserati or Lambhorgini….
such long waiting time is unforgiveable after giving them 2 decades of head-start with our crude taxation regime.
Comment by tengster — Monday, 28 April, 2008 @ 14:46
tengster, how cud you say that. you broke atai’s heart. it is a good buy and it is worth the wait. but the saga is the car for modification. I think I alreadcy saw some with big spoilers and huge exhaust and some neon lights at the bottom. If not the saga look bare. I wonder when wud atai take his car for a facial make over.
Comment by Yan — Monday, 28 April, 2008 @ 15:17
yan: read carefully. I didnt say saga is a bad car. I am purely condeming their pathetic attitude failing to plan carefully and deliver more cars in time. I believe such mass production car has 6-7months waiting time is unforgiveable. Their Tg Malim plant has at least 150k per year capacity while Shah Alam can be easily 60k.
It may be a good buy for the price and look. The wait will kill them from being competitive and to stay ahead in the competition.

teng… personally, i think proton could not be bothered. they know that at the moment, people are willing to wait. there is no other cheaper (or same priced) option. so the mentality is — let them wait.
after all, if they increase production and fulfil all orders, what happens then to the extra capacity? it’s not like they can export the surplus overseas. at the current pricing, many are going to opt for Toyota, Honda or even Nissan instead!

wow, you retained the same number plate or just chose the same numbers? my bro in law has this saga too, and i think it’s a great buy for 40k. so far it’s great.
Comment by kimleong — Tuesday, 29 April, 2008 @ 16:01
chose same number only… i worry when i walk to the parking machine and realise i forgotten the car number — then have to walk back to the car…
i’m not good with numbers…

it’s a good buy, good value for money. huge boot space too. i was thinking of getting it too, but the long waiting period put me off. i like the blue colour.
