Holiday at A Famosa, Melaka
by atai @ 23:17 | Filed under: misc, updates

A few weeks back, my brother suggested that the whole family go for a holiday… So, after taking into account the number of people, the budget he had and logistics (one uncle stays in Singapore), we ended up at… A Famosa Resort in Melaka.

It was a 2D/ 1N trip… In on Saturday and out on Sunday. We arrived at the resort around lunch time but since we could not check in first and we wanted to try the ‘local’ food, we headed to Melaka town. The drive took the makan place took us almost 40minutes! :(

So it was lunch, sight-seeing, shopping and then dinner at Jonker Street/ Walk. We then quickly headed back to A Famosa as we wanted to catch the shows at Cowboy Town. Unfortunately for us, when we arrived, it was already almost the end of the show. We only got to watch the parade and then the fireworks.

We walked around the area… Its more like a funfair. You have your carnival games, a bowling alley, some trapeze thingy and bumper car (yeah!). We almost trashed the car. My bro and I would drive around the ‘ring’ first to gain speed and then go head-on… We could hear the metal crash against each other. We came out with aching backs… No kidding!

We had brought decks of cards… But dunno why… When we got back to the 4 room single storey bungalow, everyone was tired and just went to sleep. Next thing I knew… It was morning.

We then headed to Animal Safari for our breakfast. Nothing really great about dinner. You either choose porridge, nasi lemak + rendang chicken or western breakfast (egg + baked beans + sausage).

First thing we did after breakfast was rush over to watch the Elephant show. I have to say… I feel sorry for the elephants. *sigh* My aunt said she even saw an elephant shed tears… I mean, they were dancing and shaking their heads (looks as though they were on ecstasy) and being poked with what looked like quiet sharp objects. I guess they animals suffer because people like us continue to visit places like these… But the elephants were really great!

Then we went for the safari ride…

Just after a bath
They have more tigers here than at the National Zoo

Lots of deers at A Famosa
Lots of deers too… Not tiger food though

After that, I went to this chicken place… You see different types of chicken. I saw lots of cute chicks there too…

Lots of chicks
Told you there were lots of cute chicks

There’s actually lots of animals here and I have to say I enjoyed this place more than I did at the National Zoo. I went to the Zoo about 3 years back and don’t recall enjoying myself this much. But of course over here, I got lots of vegetarian kaki…

You can buy some (very expensive) cut vegetable and feed the rabbits

All in all, I think we all enjoyed ourselves. It was a well needed break for the family. But would we return? I don’t think so… Cause it just don’t have the pulling factor. I don’t see why I would wanna return to the cowboy town. The animal safari… I can always go to a pet shop… Or the Zoo. Still, its a nice place to go and relax if you’ve never been there. But make sure you go in a group. I don’t think you’ll really enjoy if you go alone or with just a friend.

What is available at A Famosa
It’s a very big place - 10mins drive from our bungalow to the A Famosa entrance!

  2. it is quite nice for a first time visit. just dun have too high an expectation. the place is quite old. still, if you have kids with you, you could easily spend like 3 days there. 1 day at animal safari. 1 day at the water theme park. and you can also visit Melaka!
