i guessed as much that most companies these days are quite <del>kiamsiap</del> cost conscious.

aiyah... i should have requested for 'executive health screening' then... didn't do cancer marker test... didn't do lung function... didn't do ECG... didn't do hearing tests... these are the things i would actually like to do. i should have called you and asked you for advice... sorry la Joodey, forgot about what you do for living... :)

Yes, there are lots of check ups you could do at medical centers. No wonder they looked confuse. There are simply too many to choose and they would not know which one you are referring to.

A pre-employment medical checkup ranges from RM50 to RM150. This covers basic blood test (normally for HIV, Hepatitis), urine test, x-ray and eye vision.

The one you paid for are normally known as 'executive health screening'. if you mentioned this earlier, they would know what you mean. this again, ranges from RM300 to RM1000+. You can pick and choose your 'checks'. i think the average ones cost about RM500+. it covers most blood test, cancer marker, lung function, ECG, hearing test and some women may opt for pap smear and mammogram too.

Why dont companies send you for comprehensive check ups when you join but just the pre-employment ones? firstly, it's costly. secondly, the employer only concerns about 'spreadable' desease like HIV and hepatitis, and if you are drug addict etc. in some cases, diabetics may be a concern due to nature of job...

The reason why we have so many complicated test is due to our complicated body and the complicated environment which is creating more and more virus and deseases!

So, that's it... a lesson on health check. hehehe
oh well, anyway, glad to know you are well...
